I think that people liked Halo: Combat Evolved because it gave them a welcome break from not only total reality (which is why video games were ever created: because people wanted to do things that they never could do in real life) , but also a break from 'the regulars' of just about every other video game, such as: having to senslessly kill things without even thinking, not very much option on the WAY you kill things, not having such an AWESOME multiplayer mode that you wouldnt even WANT to set up a LAN party, and the thing that wouldn't even happen in real life, bosses after each level. This is probably one of the reasons some people didn't like the story mode of Halo 2.

yeah, havin boss fights suck, but in halo 2 there was only one.
I liked the story line. well, on the first halo, when I played for the first time I never really knew what I was doing, And I never really knew the story line or what Cortana was talking about, but when I read the books,(the flood) and then went back to the game, everything made sense. So, when Halo 2 came out, I knew what to listen to, and how to listen to it, And acually listened to Cortana.
And you have to admit, the boss fight at the end wasn't really a boss fight because it didn't have a stupid "heath" bar saying " you have this much to take out of him...get to it!" and it was pretty satistfying. I wish It was Chief who got to kill him though...but then again...Chief got to kill Regret. Regret was pretty fun, that wasn't a boss fight either. he was tooooo easy and it was just like you were killing a bad guy. Halo 2 rocks!

Halo's notin with music...

you know in high charity, at the very end where cortana's like "you might want to sit this one out" and your all "fine by me" but then the "Blow me away" song comes on and you can't take it anymore...so you run in there blind and get yourself killed...then you come back and you say to yourself "well that was stupid, not gunna do that again" but then the song comes back and you can't help yourself but run in there and die again! that's what I call effective music!

Bosses are alright aslong as they are'nt unrealisticly difficult, like.. Tartarus! =) Regrets fun to fight though because you have to board him with out gettin killed by his laser or the honor-guards. Tartarus on Legendary is just stupid though. he has some invincible shield even phantoms and other covie vehicles don't have don't have, and the plasma sword which by logic should slice him into two dosn't even begin to hurt.

Hmmm...Tartarus looks kind of like a character from the TV show, "Gargoyles."

I think that Tartarus was so stupid to have that shield on the last level, it makes him unfairly invincible!

But, here's a tip, USE A BEAM RIFLE! :)

mrsmiley: The only thing you're missing is that the majority of the "fans" that come here probably never even heard of Bungie before Halo, or of Halo before Microsoft bought Bungie for that matter. Personally, I loved the three-parter and I thought the "Frog Blast the Vent Core" one way back was great as well. Just keep doing what you're doing regardless of what the "fans" say.

dude.....you're not missing anything. These little kids get worked up over this game, and bungie like it controls their life. I feel great to just get home from work, relax, and read some funny stuff about an awesome game. This is your site, your rules, and your original stuff. Do as you please, when you please,and how you please. Dont let these kids mess with you. I dont see how you stay so calm. Awesome job man, keep up the good work.

And a note to the other fans. If your not one of these annoying whiny kids, than I mean no harm to you.

I really didn't care much for the bungie fundamental things, but that may be just because I didn't really understand any of them, since Halo1/2 is the only Bungie games I've ever played.

Nice Comic, I really don't have problem with bosses; they make a great portion in gaming.
Here are some of my favorites:
1. Bowser- Super Mario
2. Alma- Ninja Gaiden
3. Tartarus- Halo2

Okay, for anyone brave enough to scroll down this far; the wierd bomb guy from Fundamentals #1, Konoko (the purple-haired female in Fundamentals #2), and Muro (purple-haired guy in this strip) are all from the game Oni, a great anime-style game Oni created prior to Halo. It was a great game with phenomenal graphics for its time, but not many people (except for desperate Mac gamers >_<) ever heard or played it.
