The bringer of bacon, as it were, is a creation centuries old. Kap holds the torch now.

It better be better than the NES version in terms of gameplay.

I wonder if the pretty flat lighting is either alpha stage graphics or artistic direction? and how many times did they CROSS THE LINES o.o

anyways, if the gameplay turns out as good as the character design (it's like, perfect movie match), then I'm all in!

All the gameplay vids I've seen for this are, well, they're good, but they're nothing new. You run around doing all the stuff they did in the movies. Yeehaww. Catch Slimer in the hotel ballroom, yawn. No new storyline. (Of course, that could, and almost certainly will, change.) One article spoke of the game being the "Ghostbusters 3" that would have been made if videogames hadn't taken over the entertainment industry.

On the positive side, they got the original cast to do the voiceovers. If they manage to do this right, it'll be fine catch, since there's been nothing worthwhile done with this franchise for 25 years. Sort of like with the Terminator games...

Yeah thats really what you have to keep in mind at this point, that if this wasn't happening, NOTHING would be happening. Its like how there was talk of creating a third "Bill & Ted" movie. I'd love it to happen, but it won't.

I'm satisfied enough at the moment. Like, if the review is horrible, then I won't buy it, but I'm fairly set on buying it at this point.

And just so its utterly clear, the storyline for this game is in fact Ghostbusters 3, It is chronologically after Ghostbuster 2. Its not some mashup of the prior movies.

Your info must be more recent. I found a gameplay vid on YT that showed the hotel ballroom scene...of course, that could have just been a graphics test.
It seems that the events of the first movies will be taken as done, though cutscenes might be made for those few who have never seen the movies.

No details are available as far as I can tell, which is fine. Will Gozer return or will they go after something new? We shall see.

As for a third Bill & Ted movie...yeah, that would have been great 15 years ago, but if they tried it now, they'd need a new cast. And of course George "Rufus" Carlin is dead now...

No movie game is a buy for me, no matter how good it is. On a side note most games lack replay value; if there's no online multiplayer, it's a definite rent.

Rumor has it there really is going to be a Ghostbusters 3 with the original cast training a new team.

Could be good.

My info is from an IGN interview with one of the guys from the studio, who revealed a surprising amount: That you play as a new hire at Ghostbusters, and play alongside the original cast. It was heavily implied at very least that as such it takes the form of a sequel (Although this arrangement means it could feasibly occur between Ghostbusters 1 & 2). Perhaps the scenes from previous movies take place as flashback levels or something?

Also, there is some kind of in game upgrade system for your Proton pack, where you purchase new firing modes extra power and so forth, I assume from Egon. For instance one of the new modes seen in the trailer where their guns are shooting green beams. One of the upgrades mentioned was a slime upgrade, so I thinks thats it. With the slime upgrade, rather than blasting away at ghosts, you shoot end points to a string of contracting slime. For instance, you shoot the ghost with one end, and the other end at a heavy table or something. The slime does all the work for you and pulls the ghost in toward the desk.

However it doesn't work on stronger ghosts as they would just pull the table along with them.

Anyway, I suppose we'll see how many of these promises are fulfilled in time.

I tend to agree that this game seems like it could really fall into "just another 3rd person shooter" territory. However, the buy in from the original cast, and the writing talent of Dan Akroyd could really make this a fun experience. Although I'm always of the persuasion as well that no multiplayer = rent. a ghost vs. ghostbusters mode could be awesome!

Whereas I see it the other way; if it's all multiplayer and not much of campaign, it's not even a rental.
But ghosts vs ghostbusters..hm. Slime vs proton packs. Or what appears to be a sort of telekinetic force lightning.
Someone once wrote that "every human now living has ten thousand ghosts standing behind him". So that means the Busters are a tad outnumbered!

I feel like they'd be fools not to include some kind of skirmish mode in this, where a team of busters could take on ai ghosts on certain multiplayer levels, IE each one representing a certain odd job that they were called out on, with each encounter being a little different each time.

Also, Ghostbusters versus could be a little like the Team Mafiya work of GTA, the two teams competing to earn cash by completing tasks, only actually clashing when absolutely neccessary.

i think there's a marked artistic-conceptual difference in the Wii and other versions. I predict the Wii one will be fun .. the description of how the nunchuck and wiimote work for the game sounds to feel satisfying.
