Almost a thousand entries in just a couple hours!? No wonder the server melted! Sorry to those who wanted to participate, but I'm gonna stick with then current entries. 1,400+ haikus is a lot of reading! Winner will be announced this Friday!

UPDATE:
OMG They keep coming in. Apparently all the comments were queued on the server. I have over 1300 now. You guys are insane. To those wondering if their comment made it... yeah, it did. Don't worry about it. :)

UPDATE 2:
I have received hundreds of emails from people asking if their entry was received, or if I can add their entry since they couldn't add it due to the server issues. Unfortunately, there is no way I can respond to all these emails individually, so here is the simple answer:

I am not accepting any entries via email. If yours made it in as a comment (and a TON of them did), that's all I will be using to judge the contest.

I apologize to those who put a lot of work into a Haiku but didn't get to enter. There's no way I could have known about the massive traffic on this (it didn't happen for the last map pack giveaway we had!), and I can't be expected to judge out of thousands of entries in two days.

Secondly, for those that are worried about double, triple, or octuple posting... DON'T. I understand the circumstances you had no control over, and I won't be disqualifying any of the entries that made it through, even if they made it through 10-20 times.

I hope this answers all your questions on the matter. Please, PLEASE stop emailing me. My iPhone is vibrating off my leg, and I won't be able to respond to any of them.

Wanna win the new Mythic Map Pack before it's released? Write a Haiku that in some way relates to Halo and leave it as a comment to this news post!

What is a Haiku? A Haiku is a poem that has 3 lines of text, and does not have to rhyme. The first line must contain 5 syllables, the second line must contain 7 syllables, and the third line must contain 5 again. Here is a short example:

This is a Haiku. (5 beats)
It doesn't always make sense. (7 beats)
Refrigerator. (5 beats)

Was that hard? No. Do I have poetic skill? No. So take a few minutes, think of something funny, creative, dramatic, or all of the above! When you have your Haiku, submit it as a comment. I will select one or two of my favorites and send them a redemption code for the Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack before you can even buy it!

- Include your REAL email address so I can send you the code if you win!
- Do not submit more than one entry. I have plenty of ways of tracking this. Do it, and you'll be banned from this site.
- You don't have to register for HBN to participate in this contest.
